154 meritorious students felicitated

MANGALDAI, June 20: As many as 154 meritorious students who have secured distinction or highest marks in any subject at state level including those who secured ranks in the state in this year’s HSLC, High Madrassa and HS fil examitions from Darrang district were felicitated in a function organized by the Academic Council of Darrang at District Library here recently.

State Water Resource and Fisheries Minister Basanta Das speaking on the occasion as the chief guest congratulated the students for their significant achievements and bringing laurels to their schools and localities.

Referring to the growing tendencies of the new generation to blindly accept anything imported by ignoring our age old ture, tradition, culture etc, the minister made an appeal to the meritorious students to begin a widespread movement for conserving ture.

The function which was chaired by Deputy Commissioner of Darrang, Manoj Kumar was also attended by  writer and physician Dr Rama Bora and Inspector of Schools Sadulla Khan.

Working President of Academic Council Harmuj Ali read out welcome address. The students were felicitated with an appreciation letter, a gamosa and a bundle of books.
