16 injured in road mishap in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR, September 17: At least 16 people, including two toddlers, were injured in a road mishap along the tiol Highway 31(C) at Dhwnpur near Joypur in Kokrajhar district on Wednesday.

According to the witnesses, a Mahindra Marxel Van bearing registration number AS-14A-3070 hit a passenger bus ‘Ma Masha’ bearing registration number AML 1787 which was on its way to Saralpara from Kokrajhar town while approaching the highway road. The bus after being hit by the van from the side, lost control and fell off the road.  At least 13 passengers in the bus and three in the van were injured, sources said. The mishap took place at around 2 pm. The injured were rushed to Rupth Brahma Civil Hospital and MRM Hospital in Kokrajhar.

Six of the injured, including a 10-month old baby girl, are said to be serious. Some of the injured were identified as Sushila Tudu (10 months), Darneswar rzary (45), both stated to be critical, Behula Ray, Purnima Daimary, Pramila Basumatary, Priyam Basumatary, Pungkha Kaklary, Anu Basumatary, Gul Basumatary, Parbati Brahma, Bimal Daimary and Bikash Toppo.
