16-yr old arrested for 'rape' attempt

Batadrava, March 28: A minor boy was apprehended on Wednesday afternoon by Rupahihat Police of gaon on charges of allegedly trying to rape his neighbour’s seven year-old girl. Police said the incident took place in Rowmari village of Rupahihat on the night of March 11 night when the girl was alone at home. The 16-year old boy then allegedly tried to force himself upon her. The minor victim resisted his efforts and cried out loudly, prompting the neighbours to rush in and rescue her. The suspect, however, maged to flee the scene before the girl’s parents and neighbours arrived. Police have registered a case 165/18 under Section 4 of POCSO ACT/12 against the accused and launched a search operation to arrest him. Based on specific input, a police team led by Jiaur Rahman, Officer in-charge of Rupahihat Police station, filly succeeded to b the accused from Rupahi Tiniali.
