16th Bn SSB undertakes welfare programme for people in border areas

KOKRAJHAR, Jan 4: The 16Bn SSB, Ranighuli celebrated the New Year in a unique way to promote a sense of security and brotherhood with the people living in the border areas as well as with their Bhutanese counterparts with the motto Hum Sath Sath Hain and Jiyo Aur Jeeney Do.

In order to build good relation and coordition with the Bhutanese counterpart, on the eve of New Year, Chief Guest Sh. Amit Kumar, DIG, SSB, SHQ Kokrajhar, Tshering Dorji, SP Gelephu (Bhutan), A.K.C. Singh, Commandant, 16th Bn. SSB along with other local and administrative persons attended a friendly volleyball match between the team of Royal Bhutan police and 16th Bn SSB Ranighuli at Bop Dadgiri. In the batch of five matches, the Royal Bhutan police team won the match. Further, 16thbn SSB Ranighuli distributed clothes to poor and needy children adopted by SSB from remote villages like Ultapani, Sopur, Dadgiri, Sashipur, Saralpara and Maiguri.

On January 2, the unit head quarter organized a cultural programme for aged person and orphan children of Alayaron Orphage Home and for the Bhutanese counterparts. During the programme,  books, pens and sports goods were distributed to the children by Mrs Verma, wife of the DIG, and blankets were presented to the old people by Sh. Amit Kumar, DIG, SHQ Kokrajhar.

As a New Year resolution, the 16th Bn.SSB, Ranighuli has planned many welfare programmes for the village people as well as for the youths of the border area which include study tour programe to Kolkata for the youths of the border areas in the month of March-April, seed distribution programme for the poor and needy farmers and to find out more cases of cleft lip people in the AOR and providing further necessary treatment or surgery.
