17th convocation of Dibrugarh University held

Dibrugarh, March 15: The 17th convocation of Dibrugarh University (DU) was held on Thursday at the Kalaguru Bishnu Prashad Rabha Rangamancha, DU. In the convocation that was organized under the supervision and leadership of the Vice-Chancellor of DU, Alak Kumar Buragohain, 10, 450 students received their degree and title in different fields and subjects. Also, writer and jourlist, Arup Kumar Dutta was honoured with the D Litt Award at the event.
 Addressing the gathering, Buragohain said that no progress could be made without education. He also said that the students who attained higher education should also engage themselves with social work. Among the 10, 450 students, 57 students were given PHD, 62 M. Phil, 683 MA, 211 M. Sc and 108 M. Com degrees and awards respectively. Also, 5,590 students, 1,489 students and 995 students received their Bachelor’s degree in arts, science and commerce stream respectively.
Padmashri and Padma Bhushan awardee and former Director of Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, Professor Padmabham Balaram graced the event as its chief guest and delivered the convocation address.
