18-year old allegedly gang-raped at Amoni

GAON, July 21: An 18-year old girl was allegedly gang raped by 10 people under a bridge on NH 37 Road near Amoni under Samaguri police station on Monday night around 10.30pm.

The alleged rapists left her there for the whole night and fled away. Sources said that the girl who was a resident of jirajan of gaon town. She became acquainted with a boy med Raju through social media a year ago and on Monday evening the boy picked her up from a restaurant near Borghat bypass road and took her to Tezpur for a birthday party. While they returned back they stopped their vehicle near a dhaba in Amoni area and the boy along with the driver consumed liquor in the dhaba.

During that time, the boy called some of his friends and later on they took the girl from the dhaba and forcefully brought her under the bridge and allegedly raped her. On Tuesday morning some local people heard her crying and rescued the girl from the bank of the channel and informed the local police. Later the Samaguri police rushed to the spot and sent her to SBP Civil Hospital for treatment. Sources said that police have started investigation and the girl has claimed that there were at least 10 people involved. Except Raju, the other culprits are unknown to her.
