From a Correspondent

GAON, April 256: Almost 181 provincialized uided primary schools are being allegedly deprived of the fund for midday meal since January, although they are getting the rice. As a result, these schools are not being able to provide midday meal to the students.

The headmasters of these schools alleged that they had been regularly getting rice and midday meal fund since 2007-08, and also other facilities related to the midday meal.  However, since January this year, Sarva Siksha Abhiya (SSA) stopped the midday meal fund.  They said that without midday fund they were not able to provide the meal to the students. They added that due to this decision of SSA, bags of rice meant for the midday meal were piled up in godowns and getting damaged.

The headmasters said that they had approached district SSA coorditor and ADC Purabi Kunwar to take steps to release the fund but, they alleged, she had done nothing in this regard.
