181st birth anniversary of Sri Sri Ramakrish observed in Shillong

SHILLONG, March 12: The Ramakrish Mission Ashram, Cherrapunjee today celebrated the 181st birth anniversary of Sri Sri Ramakrish through a colourful function held at the Ramakrish Mission Higher Secondary School, Sohra with Meghalaya Governor V Shanmugathan gracing the occasion as Chief Guest.

In his address to the hundreds of young students gathered at the function, the Governor   stressed on the importance of student life and how it is instrumental in shaping a person’s future life. He called upon the young minds to concentrate and focus their attention to education to eble them to achieve gainful employment in the future.” Concentrate on education. Do not chat and wander here and there. Parents and loved ones expect you to do well. Focus your attention to education so that you can fulfill their expectations by becoming someone in life,” he said.

In his speech, local MLA Titos Chyne expressed his gratitude to the Ram Krish Mission for its various works, especially in the education sector. “Ram Krish Mission has set the standards for other educatiol institutions of the area to emulate,” he said and also added that he shall in his capacity co-operate with the Mission in efforts at promoting education in the area with special attention to vocatiol training to cater to the employment needs of the people in the constituency.

Earlier in the programme, students representing different Ram Krish Mission schools of the area displayed the life and teachings of Sri Sri Rama Krish through the skits they performed.

It may be reminded that the birth anniversary of Ramakrish is celebrated annually at Ram Krish Mission Sohra to recollect his life and times as well as to instill in the students the spirit of selfless service and sacrifice as exemplified by Sri Sri Rama Krish.
