19th Kargil Divas to be Observed at Khomtai, Assam

JORHAT, July 24: The 19th Kargil Divas will be observed at Captain Jintu Gogoi’s native village at Khomtai in Golaghat district. The day-long programme will be observed by several organizations, including Jasingpha Lekhika Samaroh Samiti, ATASU and Khomtai residents. The programme will kick off with hoisting of the flag by Captain Jintu Gogoi’s father and former Indian Air Force Flying Officer Thogiram Gogoi while swahid tarpan will be offered by former Army official Col Benudhar Saikia. This will be followed by quiz, drawing and painting competitions and a free health check-up camp which will be inaugurated by Dr. Hemanta Kumar Hazarika, the SDMO, Bokakhat.

Meanwhile, under the presidentship of Subarna Saikia Bordoloi, former secretary of Assam Lekhika Samaroh, an open session will be held where Dr Charu Sohoria Nath from Lekhika Samaroh and Shubhan Kakoty from 17 Gharwal Regiment will attend as the guests of honour. The souvenir on the occasion will be released by Dalimi Saikia, informed Thogiram Gogoi.
