2-day event focuses on rural marketing

Shillong, Nov 8: The Department of Magement & Commerce Studies of Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU) organised a two event called Synergy 2017 with “Rural Marketing” as its theme from Tuesday at the university campus in Nongrah. The event was aimed at developing and uplifting rural marketing, recognising entrepreneurial opportunities in rural areas and enhance and developing these opportunities in the Northeast, including Meghalaya,

This event was attended by participants from St Anthony’s College, University of Technology and Magement, ICFAI University, Umshyrpi College and Shillong College. Various competitions were organised under the theme “Rural Marketing”, which included debate, quiz, role-playing and new product development.

Speaking as a chief guest at the iugural function, MLCU Chancellor Dr Glenn C Kharkongor applauded the department for organising the event and bringing forth different aspects of rural marketing for uplift and development.

Head of department Dr Rupa Bakor Kharshiiing said rural markets offer an exciting opportunity for both expansion and sustaible growth and that it is imperative that organisations actively develop an inclusive strategy to include rural consumers in their business offerings.

The event also hosted other speakers like Centre of Learning, Knowledge and Services founder Vijay Byrsat, Polaris Solutions founder Poirei K Sase and North Eastern Development Fince Corporation Ltd Shillong Branch Mager Pynkynmawlang Rymmai. Winners of the different comptitions held over the course of the two days were given away awards on the concluding day on Wednesday.
