20 cattle, liquor seized

SHILLONG, May 13: Keeping a strict vigil at the borders of Meghalaya with Bangladesh, BSF troops foiled the attempt of cattle lifters from across the border in the area of Rattachera. A BSF patrolling party while domiting the area observed suspicious movement of few persons along with buffaloes. They immediately cordoned the area but the suspected miscreants fled towards Bangladesh taking advantage of thick vegetation. BSF troops seized two buffaloes from the spot which had been stolen from the Indian village Jalalpur. The cattle were returned back to the rightful owner after identification.  In the other incident, the troops of BSF BOP Patharghat and Tuka deployed at East Khasi Hills, on a tip off seized 18 cattle from the bordering area. The special Ambush party of BSF laid a trap while some smugglers along with cattle were proceeding towards Bangladesh for smuggling through a thickly vegetated area. BSF also seized liquor bottle-laden truck. One Indian liquor smuggler identified as Deepak Malik was also apprehended along with the liquor.
