20 pc bonus for tea labourers announced

Dibrugarh, September 21: Most of the tea estates of Upper Assam have announced 20 per cent bonus to the tea labourers this year also. The Asom Chah Mazdoor Sangha (ACMS), this year too, is pursuing the matter with several tea estates of Upper Assam to provide 20 per cent bonus to the tea workers 20 days before the start of Durga Puja.

In a press communiqué, ACMS president Paban Singh Ghatowar and general secretary Dileswar Tanti of ACMS, stated that 20 per cent bonus had already been announced by Warren Tea Estate, MK Shah Export Limited, Stuart Hal (India) Limited, Goodrick Group, Amguri India Limited, Dhansiri Tea and Industries, Badulipar, Atmaram Tea Company, Langkashi Tea Estate, and Jalan gar Tea Company.

The ACMS leaders in their press communiqué said that their organization was having a detailed discussion with multitiol companies like Tata Tea Company, Macleod Russell and Andrew Yule companies and hoped that they would be releasing a satisfactory amount of bonus for the tea workers soon. ACMS has called upon the planters of the tea estates to release the bonus just 20 days before Durga Puja celebrations.
