21 villages affected by flood in Biswath subdivision

Biswath Chariali, June 28: The number of villages affected by floods under Biswath subdivision is 21, total area affected is 929 hectares while total population affected is 3,000.

Two huts have been damaged by flash flood of river Burigang, Borgang and Pavoi in Biswath Revenue Circle under Biswath subdivision. Three portions of the old embankment of River Burigang at No 1 Disiri village and one portion of the old embankment of River Pavoi at Rangamuri village have been eroded. Two PWD roads and four village roads have also been badly damaged.

A portion of Tinisuti-Biswath Chariali PWD road at Kalapani village has been washed away by the flash flood of Burigang river. Two portions of Nefa Tiniali-Balidanga PWD road at Fulbari village near the church have been badly damaged by Burigang river. Village roads at Rangajan (in two portions), Birijan (in two portions), Kalahandi (in two portions) have been damaged by the River Birgang. One culvert of the Ghoramara village road has been completely washed away by Burigang river. Two portions of that village road too are badly damaged. The approach portion of the RCC bridge on PWD road at Pavoi over Pavoi river is damaged badly.

The SDO (c) Pallav Gopal Jha, SP Biswath, Mabendra Debroy, Circle Officer Biswath Revenue Circle, Tripurendra Pator and Election Officer Pervez Amin visited the flood affected villages to take stock of the situation on Sunday. The SDO (C) issued urgent instructions to the officials concerned for taking up rescue and relief operations in the flood affected villages immediately.
