23 Indian fishermen arrested in Sri Lanka

Colombo, March 13: At least 23 Indian fishermen were arrested in Sri Lanka for poaching in the country’s waters, the media reported on Sunday. The fishermen were arrested by Sri Lankan vy in the seas off the town of Manr and were handed over to the police, Xinhua news agency reported. The police said that the vy handed over the fishermen and three boats to them in Manr. The fishermen are between the age of 15 and 56, the police said. They will be produced before a court on Sunday. Sri Lankan vy frequently arrests Indian fishermen for poaching as there is a better catch in the island tion’s waters. Both the countries are looking at ways to address the issue of fishermen.
