23 shops gutted in Tezu market fire

ITAGAR, Feb 6: At least 23 shops including SPT and RCC built, reduced to ashes in a devastating fire mishap at Tezu market in Lohit district of Aruchal Pradesh.

All goods and items in the shops were burnt down in the mishap which occurred in the wee hour yesterday, a delayed official release informed here today.

Civil police, IRBN, fire tender, Army, BRTF, ITBP and civilians together extinguished the fire before it could spread to nearby market areas and shops.

No casualty has been reported and the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

Deputy Commissioner Tamiyo Tatak has ordered a judicial probe into the case and has directed the district disaster magement officer to assess the loss and damages of the properties, the release added.
