23th convention of municipal board workers' union

Lakhimpur, Sept 24: The 23th convention of the workers’ union of the Municipal Board of North Lakhimpur got under way on Friday with a three-day programme. Many municipal board employees from various districts of the State are participating. Minister Atul Bora is likely to be present as chief guest or guest of honor in the programme on Sunday. The programme was iugurated by Sayad jim Ahmed, vice-president of All Assam Drama Association. Devika Sarmah, former chairman of Municipal Board, North Lakhimpur, lit the ceremonial lamp. Along with all the employees of Municipal Board of North Lakhimpur, Lokth Hazarika, president of All Assam Municipal Workers’ Union, are attending the programme. “Today new members will be appointed to take charge of the All Assam Municipal Workers’ Union and tiol flag will be hosted in the morning by Anwar Hussain, chairman of North Lakhimpur Municipal Board. Many cultural programmes will be held in the evening by the employees. On Friday, a meeting was held to plan and perform better in the district and the State-level in order to achieve our aims and goals. The speech of the vice president of All Assam Municipal Workers’ Union was motivating,” said Parag Dutta, Municipal Board official.
