24-hour rail blockade in Dima Hasao called off

Haflong, Dec 12: Following the intervention and assurance from the district administration, the 24-hour rail blockade was called off by the All Apex Bodies Co-ordition Committee (AABCC). TheĀ  rail blockade was called by AABCC in protest against the inclusion of Dima Hasao in galim and also the establishment of satellite council in Dima Hasao. It was called off after several hours on Tuesday. The rail blockade programme was started peacefully from morning 6 am wherein thousands of people took part at New Haflong and Maibang station forcing the railway to detain trains at Lumding and Badarpur for hours.

At Diyungbra, hundreds of people coming to join the rail blockade were prevented by the police who then blocked the road communication in between Lanka- Haflong and also staged dhar in front of the Diyungbra Police station.

The All Apex Bodies Co-ordition Committee (AABCC) later submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister rendra Modi through the Deputy Commissioner of Dima Hasao which was accepted by the Additiol Deputy Commissioner on behalf of Deputy Commissioner of Dima Hasao in presence of all the office bearers of All Apex Bodies Co-ordition Committee (AABCC). The memorandum signed by Kailen Daolagupu, President and Sounmang Changsang, General Secretary expressed their distress and insecurity at the proposed hidden framework Agreement between Government of India and the NSCN(M).

The AABCC said that the government should immediately act by rectifying the anomalies and bring the Greater galand Framework Agreement to public domain. The AABCC (All Apex Body Coordition Committee) also refuted in totality the proposed establishment of Satellite Council in Dima Hasao for a particular community which is against the interest of other tribes of Dima Hasao who have been living in harmony since time immemorial.
