24th State-level tiol Children's Science Congress gets under way

Dibrugarh, October 13:  The four-day convention of the 24th State-level tiol Children’s Science Congress kicked off on Thursday here at Dibrugarh University (DU) campus, which is being organized by the District Organizing Committee of the tiol Children’s Science Congress (NCSC) in association with Dibrugarh University (DU). The convention will conclude on October 16. 

On the opening day of the four-day Children’s Science Congress Convention, at about 6.30 am, the partaking child scientists registered their mes, and at 8.30 am the camps of the participating child scientists was formally opened by District Superintendent of Police, Gautam Bora. Later, in the evening, a lecture session was held at the Dr. Hitendra th Baruah Park  of DU, wherein a talk was delivered by noted astronomist Devi Prasad Duori.

Nearly 300 budding child scientists along with their mentor teachers from various districts of the State are taking part in the four-day NCSC 2016, in which the child scientists will be demonstrating their inventive projects and ideas at the scheduled events slated to be held during the four-day conclave.

Notably, ‘Science Technology and Innovation for Sustaible Development, with special emphasis being laid on accessibility for persons with disabilities’ has been chosen as the theme of this year’s tiol Children Science Congress. tural Resource Magement, Food and Agriculture, Energy, Health, Hygiene and Sanitation, Lifestyle and Livelihood, Disaster Magement and Traditiol Knowledge System are the secondary themes for the convention.

 The other important highlights of the four-day children science congress conclave  are book fair and science exhibition, display and presentation of projects by child scientist, interaction and video conferencing  with eminent scientists and academicians, apart from visit to university laboratories and learning science with fun activities, quiz competitions, and cultural programmes.

As per the agenda of the convention, on October14 , hoisting of organizer’s flag together with an oath-taking ceremony of the 27 districts and their sponsors participating in the State Children Science Congress Convention will take place at 8 am, while  at 8.45 am,  the District Deputy Commissioner Laya Madduri will iugurate  the procession.

State Science and Technology Minister Keshab Mahanta, is scheduled to grace the iugural event of the 24th State Level tiol Children’s Science Congress at DU on October 14.
