25th tiol Children's Science Congress begins

KOKRAJHAR, Oct 25: The State Level 25th tiol Children’s Science Congress got underway from Wednesday at Kokrajhar with four days programme. As part of the programme, Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Executive Member, in-charge of Sports and Youth Welfare department Daneswar Goyary iugurated the camp. Director of Assam Science Technology and Environment Council (ASTEC) and president of tiol Children Science Congress (NCSC), Assam Dr. Arup Kumar Mishra iugurated the exhibition stalls. Working president of Jaideep Baruah and state coorditor (NCSC) Dr. Ranen Gogoi were also present.

An interaction session with scientists and students was also held where Dr. BG Unni, retired Director of NEIST, Jorhat, Bibhuti Lahkar, wildlife expert, Aranyak participated and interacted with the students. In the evening, a colourful cultural programme was showcased which was iugurated by Dinesh Boro, Joint Secretary, BTC.

Around 350 child scientists and over 100 ex-child scientists from 33 districts of Assam are participating in the four day long programme and will also showcase their projects on 26 different projects which will highlight the creativity and importance of the science and technology in present day life. The selected students in the programme would be forwarded to participate in the tiol event.

Director, Assam Science Technology and Environment Council (ASTEC) and president tiol Children Science Congress (NCSC), Assam Dr. Arup Kumar Mishra said the focal theme of this year Science Congress is “Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) for sustaible development: with special emphasis on accessibility for persons with disability”. He also said the major attraction of the silver jubilee will be “Conclave of alumni of child scientists” where over 100 successful and former child scientists will participate. He said it will encourage the students and the young generation to come up with new innovation ideas.

BTC Executive Member and working president of the silver jubilee celebration of NCSC Daneswar Goyary expressed hope that the 25th Science Congress will usher inspiration among the young generations in BTC region, especially Kokrajhar and the State. The four days programme will have technical sessions, activity corner, interaction with scientists, talk on Prof. Yash Paul by Prof. Anil Kumar Goswami and talk on thermonuclear energy by Dr. Viy B. Kamble, ex. child scientists’ meet, sky watching and a score on different scientific knowledge in the programme.
