27th annual conference of Association of Surgeons of India begins

Bongaigaon, November 4: The 27th annual conference of Association of Surgeons of India started from Friday with a three-day long programme in Bongaigaon.  Dr Diganta Das,  secretary, organizing committee of the 27th Annual Conference Association of Surgeons, said that the programme of the first day started with a ‘Live Workshop’ held in Lower Assam Hospital and Research Centre where 10 critical surgical  operations were done by expert doctors from several parts of India free of cost.  “Operations including pancreatic stone by Dr N N Das and cancer by Dr Rabi Kanon were done here whose live video had been shown. The live workshop was iugurated by Dr Manoj Kumar Choudhury, president of Assam State Chapter of Association of Surgeons by lighting the lamp. Before this, dignitaries were felicitated and after that welcome speech was given by Dr D Hazarika, organizing chairperson. In the evening the iugural programme of the convention was held in the Champa Club of Bongaigaon Refinery which was iugurated by L W Khongwir, Executive Director of Bongaigaon IOCL.  Several noted persons, including Dr U C Sarma, Vice Chancellor of Srimanta Sankardev Medical University, Dr Santhilthan from Combaitore, Dr Anil Agarwal from New Delhi, Dr Venkatesh Munikrishn from Cheni, Dr Angshuman Agarwal from New Delhi, Dr (Mrs) Neha Saha from Cheni, Dr S Jugindra from Imphal and Dr Ravi Kan from Silchar and many others were present in these all programme,” he said.  A cultural show was staged after the iugural meeting.
