28 businessmen in Demow yet to get compensation

DEMOW, March 26: The construction of the four-lane road from Numaligarh to Demow has started and the construction work for the four-lane in Demow Chariali is going on. The eviction drive has also started since the last few months in Demow Chariali. 
The Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) bus stand is in the middle of Demow Chariali and near NH-37 road and there are 28 shops in the bus stand. Every month, the government gets revenue from these shops and the owners of the shops pay the rent to the Demow ASTC Office. Most of the people and businessmen of Demow have got compensation for the land and business establishments they lost due to the eviction drive carried out in Demow Chariali. But till date, the 28 businessmen of Demow ASTC bus stand have not got their compensation.
The business community has demanded the ASTC to provide compensation to the 28 businessmen as soon as possible.
