3-week-old infant rescued from Ri-Bhoi

SHILLONG, Jan 8: The Police of Mawngap outpost in the wee hours of Sunday maged to rescue a three-week-old infant from Umran village in Ri Bhoi district. According to police, the infant was kidpped from Mawngap Village of East Khasi Hills District on the Saturday evening.

The police informed that the infant belongs to Shibani Khyriem. Further the police said the alleged kidpper identified as Saralinda Kharphuli is Khyriem’s neighbour.

After the parents of the infant found that their baby was missing, they immediately informed the police at Mawngap Police outpost. Soon after a missing report was registered the Mawngap police immediately sprung into action by searching for the missing baby and after much effort the police maged to rescue the baby from the residence of Sandan Kharlyngdoh in Ri Bhoi district.  Meanwhile, the police informed that they have arrested the accused and forwarded the case to court on Sunday.

Police said they have not arrested the house owner, but if required they will be arrested. The police have registered the case under section 363 IPC.
