32nd biennial conference of IMA Assam State branch concludes

LBARI, March 22: The 32nd biennial conference of Indian Medical Association (IMA), Assam State branch, which was held at the IMA House in lbari for three days, concluded on Sunday. On the first day, lbari Deputy Commissioner Dr Om Prakash flaged off the medical awareness procession in which a large number of paramedical professiols, doctors and nurses took part. This was followed by staff council meeting. On March 21, IMA Assam State branch president Dr Mabendra Goswami hoisted the flag of the Association followed by smriti tarpan. In the academic session subjects like fever, childhood psoriasis, surgery for protal hypertension and liver transplant were dealt with separately by medical professiols of tiol and intertiol repute. The open session was iugurated by Dr Dhrubajyoti Bora , the president of Axam Xahitya Xabha. Dr Bora highlighted the role of Axam Xahitya Xabha in the development of Assamese literature and language. He also appealed to doctors in particular also to extend full cooperation Axam Xahitya Xabha. He also emphasized that the need of the hour was the unity of medical professiols under one banner and there is no better forum for unity than IMA. State Minister Dr Bhumidhar Barman, while attending the meeting as chief guest, highlighted the role of doctors and appealed to doctors to discharge their duties sincerely. Prof. Umesh Ch. Sarma, Vice-chancellor of Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences, released the souvenir. He said that the medical profession was at crossroads and in a dilemma due to various challenges and problems being faced by medical professiols. Dr Om Prakash released the IMA medical directory edited by Dr Arun Barman.  Dr Dipak Kumar Sarma, Vice-chancellor of Kumar Bhaskar Barma Sanskrit University, MLA Jayanta Malla Baruah also spoke on the occasion. On March 22, different medical topics were discussed by medical professiols of intertiol and tiol repute.  The new body of IMA, Assam State branch was constituted in the conference with  Dr Hiranmoyee Adhikari  as president and Dr Satyajit  Bora as general secretary.
