32nd death anniversary of Indira Gandhi observed

Goalpara, October 31: The Goalpara District Congress Committee (DCC) on Monday observed the 32nd death anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in a befitting manner. In this regard, a day-long programme was arranged at the office of the DCC beginning with offering of floral tribute to the deceased leader. 

A ‘Sarbo Dharmo Path’ or recitation of all religion scriptures followed the floral tribute. Taijuddin Akhter, secretary DCC, then explained the purpose of the meeting by citing few classic examples of works done during the tenure of Indira Gandhi. Two youth Congress leaders Sahar Ali and Rose then focused on her life in a nutshell.

Amzad Ali, vice-president of DCC, delivered a speech which focused on the foreign policy of the former Prime Minister. He was followed by former MLA Monower Hussain who vehemently criticized the BJP-led government and its divisive polices. AK Rasid Alom, MLA, East Goalpara, based his lectures on the sacrifices made by the Gandhi family and especially by Indira Gandhi for the tion. He also appealed to the workers to follow her life and dedication. Haji Abu Sayed, from his chair, directed the Congress workers to pay door-to-door visit and propagate about the misgovernce of the BJP and help the Congress win the coming panchayat election.
