3,371 cases registered in Golaghat in 2015

 GOLAGHAT, Dec  31:   In the year 2015, some incidents shocked the people of Golaghat district. Last year in the three subdivisions of Golaghat district, in various police stations 3,371 cases were registered.

Among these, 114 persons got punished as per law and 574 persons were acquitted. Among these incidents, 61 were murder cases, 52 rape cases, 271 dowry torture cases, 52 extortion charge cases, 209 kidpping of women cases and 109 bike and car lifting cases had been registered under various police stations of Golaghat district in the last year.

Bike and car lifters gave the people of the district sleepless nights. In the month January, 8 bikes and 2 four wheelers were stolen, in February 10 bikes and three  four wheelers, in March 4 two wheelers and 3 four wheelers, in April 5 two wheelers and 2 four wheelers, in May 11 two wheelers and 2 four wheelers, in June 11 two wheelers and 1 four wheeler, in July 6 two wheelers and 3 four wheelers, in August 4 two wheelers and 2 four wheelers, in September 6 two wheelers and 1 four wheeler, in October 11 two wheelers and 2 four wheelers and in November 11 two wheelers and one car had been stolen easily from various places of Golaghat district.

In the last month of the year, wanted car and bike lifter Kon Bora was shot dead by police in an encounter, in the month February a businessman of Purajanghal area was shot by suspected Maoist. Top Maoist leader Aditya Bora was arrested by Golaghat Police.
