34% teachers found absent in Sivasagar during sudden visit

JOYSAGAR, Aug 23: Around 34 per cent of teachers of various government LP, ME and High Schools of Sivasagar district have been found absent from duty during a sudden visit conducted by the Sivasagar District Education Department with the support of the other officials from DC’s office, Sivasagar.

The inspection team had been sent to various parts of the district to inspect the ground-level schooling system, with an Executive Magistrate, on August 18, August 19 and August 21. The team found around 34 per cent of teachers absent in their respective schools without taking prior and due permission from their authorities. Besides, many heads of educatiol institutions were also found absent without justified reason and prior permission.

The Education Department, Sivasagar will hold Gunotsav in various government LP, ME and High Schools in Sivasagar district in September. But most of the government teachers are allegedly not fulfilling their duties properly due to which the performance of many government schools has been poor in recent times.

Meanwhile, the Sivasagar district administration has been taking tough discipliry action against those teachers and school employees who remain absent without due permission and the administration has ordered the DO and SI of Schools, Sivasagar to cut one day’s pay of the teachers and employees who were absent during the sudden visit of the government authorities.
