DEMOW, June 4: Under the aegis of Demow Press Club, a felicitation programme was organized in the auditorium of Demow College on Saturday where 350 meritorious students of Demow and its surroundings area were felicitated for having excelled in the HSLC and HS fil exam, 2016.
A general meeting was organized presided over by Anil Kumar Dey, president of Demow Press Club. Barakha Khatiwara, a student of Demow Lambudar Borgohain Sankardev who secured the 8th position, Akhim Ranjan Borah a student of Demow Lambudar Borgohain Sankardev who secured 16th position and Romin Gogoi, a student of St. Mary’s School who secured 11th position in the HSLC examition were felicitated with a gamosa, a certificate, a sapling and a book.
Ajay Kumar Gogoi, secretary of Demow Press Club and an Assistant Professor of Political Science in Moran Women College anchored the felicitation programme. Dr Nirmal Sahewalla, a writer as well as doctor, was present in the programme. He advised the students to study hard and to have patience, only then they would get success.
Virendra Mittal, Deputy Commissioner of Sivasagar district, was present in the felicitation programme as chief guest. He congratulated all the successful candidates of the HSLC and HS examition and spoke about the development of education in the meantime. He advised the students to maintain discipline. In memory of Lakhindan Barua, SDC of Demow Circle, his wife Bidikha Barua gave cash reward to the meritorious students. Jyotimoy Saikia got Rs 3,000 in the Science stream and Kalyani Barua got Rs 3,000 in the Arts Stream. Barakha Khatiwara, 8th rank holder in the HSLC exam got Rs 3,000.
