37 Battalion SSB Mangaldoi Has Seized Smuggled Foreign Liquor In Udalguri, Assam

TANGLA, July 26: In a major drive against illegal foreign-made liquor, the troops of 37 Battalion SSB Mangaldoi seized a huge consignment of foreign-made liquor in Samrang of Udalguri along the Indo-Bhutan border recently. Of late, the consumption of liquor among people residing in the border area has gone up and the major cause behind this is availability of excise duty-free liquor in Bhutan. The Commandant of 37 Bn SSB said that taking cognizance of that, in a joint operation with State Excise department officials, the troops of border outpost Samrang seized the consignment. He also said that an awareness campaign against consumption of liquor and intoxication would also be held with the help of excise officials. The troops also apprehended David Orang, a resident of Orangajuli under Paneri PS in Udalguri in this regard. The seized items were later handed over to the excise department.
