384 community pujas in Dhubri district

DHUBRI, Sept 13: This year altogether 384 community puja will be organized by the community puja organizers across Dhubri district. Out of 384, there are 301 community puja alone in Dhubri subdivision while 83 in Bilasipara subdivision of the district. However, 104 number of community puja will be organized in Dhubri town under Dhubri Police Station area this time.

In order to ensure smooth celebration of puja in peaceful atmosphere, Dhubri district administration held a meeting with community puja organizers on Tuesday with Dhubri Deputy Commissioner Dhiraj Choudhury in the chair in his official conference hall.

 Choudhury informed that 11 community puja in the district were identified as highly sensitive and accordingly security was being arranged by erecting watch towers in the puja pandals. District administration also issued 26 do’s and don’ts for the community puja, including complete prohibition of high decimal music system in the pandals and during immersion procession, which have to be adhered.

Beside this, an emergency cell will be opened in Dhubri Circuit House and a medical team and a quick response team with fire-fighter will be pressed into service round-the-clock, an official source said. President of BJP Dhubri Town Mandal Committee, Sushanta Kar while addressing the puja meeting, demanded the district administration to drain out the stagnt water from Shantigar and Subhashgar of Dhubri town within seven days.

“If the stagnt water is not cleared from the area then all the residents will stage sit-in on GTB Road and cook their food on the road, and district administration will be held responsible for any law-and-order situation arising out of it,” Kar warned. The meeting was also attended by Dhubri Superintendent of Police, Longnit Terang and high officials of PWD, Health department and security forces.
