39th All Assam Inter District Chess C'ship concludes

DIPHU, Dec 23: The 39th All Assam Inter District Chess Championship (open)-2015 which was held on December 16 to 22 at Diphu Club, Diphu, organized by Karbi Anglong Chess Association under the aegis of All Assam Chess Association, concluded yesterday. Trailokya nda of Jorhat who scored 8 points from 9 rounds claimed the title. Trailokya get richer by Rs 12,000. S. Rahul Singh of Cachar got second position by scoring 7.5 points from same number of rounds. Shantanu Barpatra Gohain of Sivasagar and Madhab Sarma of Darrang also scored 7.5 points each but declared third and fourth respectively on the basis of tiebreak score. Ranjit Chutia of Charaideo ,ndan Buragohain of Sivasagar, cheniram Pegu of Dibrugarh and scored 6.5 points each and placed fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth respectively according to their tiebreak score. Rintu Brahma of Karbi Anglong, Th. Bipin Singha of Guwahati Guwahati, Chingkhei Singh of Guwahati, Subroto ndi roy of Cachar, Prab Kumar th of Guwhati, Homen Chandra Rabha of Kamrup and Moni Mohan Singh of Golaghat scored 6 points each and placed ninth, tenth, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th respectively according to tie-break score.

Top fifteen players were awarded cash prizes and trophies. A total of Rs 73,000 distributed among top 15 position holders as cash prizes. Altogether 84 players participated in the tourment. Senior tiol Arbiter M Arun Singh of Guwahati conducted the tourment as chief Arbiter. He was ably assisted by Manik Dutta of Sivasagar as deputy arbiter. Prize distribution ceremony was presided by Umesh Terang, president, Karbi Anglong Chess Association and conducted by Stalyn Ingti, secretary, Karbi Anglong Chess Association. Rupsingh Teron, chief executive member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous District Council, graced the ceremony as chief guest. Biswajit Bharadwaj, secretary, All Assam Chess Association was guest of honour of the ceremony.
