4 GNLA linkmen, 2 Bangladeshis bbed

SHILLONG, Feb 7: The Border Security Force (BSF) apprehended four over ground workers of the Garo tiol Liberation Army (GNLA) in Garo Hills region and two Bangladeshi tiol from South West Khasi Hills district. According to BSF officials, on February 5, its troop and police from Betasing outpost in a joint operation apprehended three over ground workers of GNLA on the Betasing- Ampati Road, in South West Garo Hills district. They were identified as Nikson Marak (29), Keni Ch Marak (24) both of Mokwatgre village under Tura, West Garo Hills district and Wenstar M Marak (29) of Rongsangabagre village under Ampati district-South Garo Hills. Two motorcycles (ML-08-B-5966 and ML-07-A-3809), three mobile phones and one extortion note of Rs 10 lakh addressed to Momin Chos a resident of Betasing were also recovered from their possession. On the basis of their confession, another over ground worker of the GNLA, Senred Ch Marak (22) of Multagre village was arrested. One mobile mobile phone with a SIM was recovered from his possession. In another incident BSF troops deployed at Bagli, South West Khasi Hills district, in a special ambush apprehended one Bangladeshi tiol identified as Habib Miya (60) of Kolagoun village under Sumganj district of Bangladesh. Ten bottles of liquor, Rs 2,100 of Indian currency, six packets of milk powder and other items were recovered from his possession. In a separate incident, BSF troops also apprehended one more Bangladeshi tiol while infiltrating into Indian territory in Mahendraganj, Soth West Garo Hills area and also seized 68 Cubic feet of logs, 531 bottles of liquor, 13 cattle and other contraband items worth Rs over Rs7 lakh while being smuggled out from India to Bangladesh along Meghalaya border during last week.
