4 Killed, Over 44 people were shot in Chicago

Incessant firing of some gunmen at several spots of Chicago turned the city into a blooded site when 44 people were shot, including 15 teenagers. It was at around 11 in the morning when the shooting spree had begun with a 38-year-old man shot in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood. this incident followed by two men struck by bullets when they were caught in the crossfire between two people firing at each other. Of the men shot, the one in his 50s died later at hospital.

This was followed by shooting of three men aging 25, 26 and 22 between 1:30 and 5:30 p.m on Saturday. In another incident of shooting on public gatherings, another 18 people were shot.

About five miles away in Lawndale, two gunmen came out of a vehicle and fired at a crowd of people at a block party. the gunmen escaped immediately after the incident. This incident led to four people being struck which includes 13 and 17-year-old boys, along with a 17-year-old girl. Another man, aging 25, was shot in the left leg. In the same neighbourhood, a 18-year-old was shot multiple times.

In a following incident of firing, eight people were shot when they were gathered in a courtyard. At around 12:40 a.m., several shooters walked up to the gathering and began firing. This firing led to the death of the youngest victim who was only 14 and the oldest victim of the firing aged 35. Other people shot in that duration were between 17 and 19 years of age.

Chicago police chief of patrol, Fred Waller, stating the incident of firing at a people's group returning from a funeral says, "The crowd had gathered after attending a funeral repass. The gang members do not fear repercussions from the law. They take advantage of that opportunity and they shoot into a crowd, no matter who they hit."
