4 ultras killed in Tamenglong encounter

IMPHAL, May 1: Four tribals suspected to be militants were gunned down during an hour long encounter with the security forces on Friday morning in Tamenglong district.  There was reportedly no casualty among the security personnel. Officials said that on receipt of specific information about the presence of some armed militants at the mountain under the Nungba sub division the trained personnel rushed there. The militants who were ensconced in their lair had opened fire using automatic rifles.  There were retaliatory fires from the security personnel. Much later the personnel scoured the areas and found the four dead persons. Officials said that the escaping militants had piggybacked the injured ones for taking to safer places.
