40,809 Power Tillers and 3,81,670 Pump Sets to Farmers

Guwahati, June 1: The Assam Government has distributed 40,809 power tillers, 9,644 tractors and 3,81,670 pump sets amongst farmers during the last 14 years. On the other hand, 1,552 numbers of rotary power tillers were distributed amongst women farmers. . In the last four years, rice production has registered a record output of 55.33 lakh metric tons. On the other hand, steps taken by the state government during this period, towards farm mechanisation has led to increase in farm output upto the extent of 82 lakh metric tons. It may be mentioned that, Assam has won the Krishi Karman Award for four years in a row, owing to production of rice and pulses. Apart from this, the state’s agricultural department along with Irrigation Department, Soil Conservation Department and Rural Development Department have taken steps to come up with a novel scheme  in the agricultural sector med “Mukhyamantrir Gramya Arthaniti Scheme”.
