420 people convicted for non-FIR cases

SHILLONG, Oct 12: The East Khasi Hills police in August and September, this year convicted 420 persons and realised fines of Rs 10, 25,000 from them by the Court as fines.

Around 203 Non-FIR cases were taken up against these persons for various offences like, consuming alcohol in public places and committing nuisance, indecent acts committed in public place like Golflink by couples, reckless driving and disturbing peace during the night. Such acts were detected by police patrolling party and also picked up by police on information from public.

According to East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, Mariahom Kharkrang the district police will continue its drive against such nuisance.
