44 villages in Boko to become smokeless villages

Boko, April 17: As a part of Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan, starting from April 14 to May 5, Arun Kumar Saxena, Senior Manager (LPG), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd, Guwahati, said that 44 villages in the Boko area would be converted to smokeless villages under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojna (PMUY).

While addressing a press meet at Boko Nandini Gas Agency, Saxena said, "This mission is being undertaken for reaching out to poor households, spreading awareness about government welfare schemes and other people-centric initiatives. Also 15 lakh LPG connections will be distributed under PMUY on the same day to celebrate the Ujjwala Divas all over India."

He also added, "Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) was launched on June 27, 2017 in Kamrup district and the total target is to distribute free LPG connections to 1 lakh families within 2017-2018 and 2018-2019. The good news is that free LPG connections have already beenĀ  distributed to 62,000 families in Kamrup district."
