446th death anniversary of Sankardeva observed

GAURISAGAR, September 16: Along with the rest of the State, the 446th death anniversary of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardeva was observed at Auniati Sakha Xatra, Kaliapani. Since morning bhaktas from across the State assembled at the Xatra and took part in the ongoing month-long am prasanga, Bhagawat Baikhya, and diha am.  On this occasion a book titled Sanskar Sarathi by Kasum Kumari Devi on traditiol rituals was released by Dr Pitambor Deva Goswami, Xatradhikar, Auniati Xatra. The Xatra has been conferring Sankardev Award to an eminent persolity of Assam since last 2005. This year too the Xatra will confer the award to Dr Siba th Barman, distinguished persolity, educationist, researcher and intellectual, but due to his illness, the programme has been postponed.
