48-hr Assam bandh peaceful in Margherita

MARGHERITA, February 4: The 48-hour Assam bandh given by All Assam Moran Students’ Union, All Moran Mahasabha, Moran Mahila Parishad and other Moran organizations passed off peacefully in Margherita and no untoward incident took place.

Krish Moran, vice-president of All Moran Students’ Union of Margherita Branch Committee, Pavan Moran, president of All Moran Students’ Union, Digboi Regiol Committee, Ashim Saikia, organizing secretary of All Assam Chutia Students’ Union Tinsukia District Committee and other activists of All Moran Students’ Union on Thursday burnt tyres at NH 38 Segunbari Tiniali, Margherita to show protest against the Modi government for its alleged failure to grant ST status to six indigenous communities of Assam. The activists shouted various slogans against Prime Minister rendra Modi.
