Reportedly, 486 cartons of IMFL estimated to be worth Rs 11.66 lakh were allegedly stored by one Mithun Chakravorty, a businessman of Tangla on Sunday evening.

Meanwhile, the role of police has been dubious as despite the person revealing the me of the proprietor of the liquor, police have not yet arrested anyone in this connection till the filling of this report. It is speculated that the liquor is an illegally distilled product being smuggled from Aruchal Pradesh. Excise sleuths had previously conducted raids and sealed SP ON shop owned by Shubrata Chakravorty, the elder brother of Mithun Chakravorty, on September 19 for violation of ON shop guidelines. SDPO Purkayastha said that they had seized the liquor and were investigating the matter.
