5 hurt in road mishaps

SHILLONG, Oct 9: Five persons sustained injuries in two separate road mishaps in the State on Sunday. Two girls – Shreema Thapa (15) and pillion rider Tomtomm Devi (16) – were injured when the scooty they were riding skidded off and fell at 7th Mile in Upper Shillong area. The incident took place around 4 pm.

Both the victims are from Happy Valley and they were on their way to Mawkdok when the accident happened. The duo has been admitted to the Shillong Civil Hospital.

In another incident, one Maruti 800 car collided head on with an Alto 800 car at Mawlyndep village, 20 km from Nongstoin in West Khasi Hills district. The mishap occurred around 7 pm on Sunday.

Three persons sustained injuries in the accident and they have been identified as John Syiem (25), Mary Grace Iawphniaw (29) and Shembok Kharsyiemlieh (44). The injured have been admitted to Nongstoin Civil Hospital.
