5-year-old girl raped by police constable

Diphu, December 18: In a shocking incident, a police constable allegedly raped a five-year-old girl at Diphu police reserve at Diphu in Karbi Anglong district last night.

The accused has been identified as Bhaskar Jyoti Kalita, a constable in Assam police and a resident of Puranigoodam in gaon District.

Registering a complaint police started investigation.

Sources said the survivor refused to go inside home when the accused pulled her in.

He later raped her forcefully when no one was present at home. The minor had informed her parents when they came home after which they approached police. The survivor’s father lodged complaint against the constable in Diphu police station.
