50th session of Assam Science Society concludes

Morigaon, January 11: The 50th session of the Assam Science Society (ASS) concluded at Borahmihir Khetra in Morigaon town today. The four–day session started on January 8 with the iuguration of the gate at Borahmihir Khetra. The gate was iugurated by Bhaben Ch. Neog, Principal, Jagiroad College. On the iugural day, a tiol semir on ‘New Perspective in Science and Technology Education’ was organized. Dr Kulendu Pathak, ex–VC, Dibrugarh University and Dr Barindra Kr Sarma, former professor of Physics, GU, spoke on the theme of the semir. On January 9, noted green activist Jadav Payeng spoke on the subject ‘Environment’.

Dr Dulal Goswami, former professor of Gauhati University spoke on ‘Erosion of Brahmaputra and its means of protection’. A programme titled ‘Let us see the sky’ was staged where a telescope made by Pintu Sarkar was displayed.

On January 10, a debate programme on ‘Plasma and its applications’ was organized and it was iugurated by Bhagawat Pran Duwara of Gauhati University.

Today’s session was attended by noted scientist Dr. Jitendra th Goswami.
