DIGBOI, March 17: Around 52 grams of brown sugar was seized at Digboi Charali Bazar from the possession of Kamal Sharma of Hansara Doomdoma in Tinsukia district on Tuesday evening by Pengaree police led by OC Bhaskar Kalita and CI Ranjit Kakoti.
According to Sharma, he had bought the rcotic substance worth around Rs 40,000 from Dibrugarh and was going to Pengaree to deliver it to his clients. Meanwhile, the seizure proceedings were being carried out in the presence of Kakoti till the time of filing this report. The case will be registered under NDPS Act. A police official said, “It was constant follow- up and the days of toil that filly yielded result this evening. There will be a crackdown on drug peddlers to combat the circulation, consumption and promotion of rcotic substances.”
