55th Manipuri Sahitya Parishad annual conference begins

Silchar, Oct 20: The 55th annual conference organized by Manipuri Sahitya Parishad (MSP) at South Barak Rural Development Agency Hall, Binkandie Part – II under Lakhipur sub-division will begin from Friday. The three day annual conference will kick off with the hoisting of the Parishad’s flag by T H Benubabu Singha, president, MSP. Tribute to the departed members of the Parishad will also be paid followed by a cultural procession at around 10 in the morning. A representative meeting will be held at around 2 pm which will be followed by a cultural programme in the evening. The second day of the conference will start at around 8.30 am with a meeting for forming a new working committee under the auspices of K Ibohol Singha, retired lecturer. An open meeting with MP Sushmita Deb, MP Dr T Maino Singha of Manipur and MLA Rajdeep Goala as the invited guests will also be held at 2 pm. Kabi Sammelan will be organized at 4 pm followed by a illumited cultural programme. The concluding day of the annual conference will begin with a discussion session chronicling the cultural background of MSP which will be presided by Dr N Thombi Singha, retired professor, Manipur University.

The Parishad has informed The Sentinel that the evening session of the conference will be graced by the presence of PWD Minister Parimal Suklabaidya, Deputy Speaker Dilip Kumar Paul, Soi MLA Aminul Haque Laskar, Dhrubojyoti Bora, president, Assam Sahitya Parishad along with other dignitaries. Among other noted writers of the community which include Dr E Dinomoni Singha, Dr N Thombi Singha, B Kulochandra Sharma, Laisram Mema Devi, H Mudan Mohan, N Indramani Singha will be knighted and felicitated.  Chairman, N G Basanta Kumar Singha, and convener, I Binode Singha, of the reception committee, has requested people to be present to make the conference a landmark. It should be mentioned here that it is for the first time that an annual conference has been organized at Binkandie Part – II.
