568th birth anniversary celebration of Srimanta Sankardeva concludes

mrup, October 13: The 568th birth anniversary of the great Vaishvite saint and founder of neo-Vaishvism cult of religion in Assam, Srimanta Sankardeva was celebrated with religious fervour and zeal at Saragari Bormghar premises here with a three-day long programme recently, echoing the entire township with the sonorous sound of amkirtan.

The first day of celebration included programmes like usha kirtan, puwar prasanga, hoisting of religious insigne, year-long golden jubilee celebration insigne, Bhagawat procession and several competitions like quiz and extempore speech among school children, prayer, Xattriya dance and Borgeet among the participants of different age groups. On the second day the programme included usha kirtan, puwar prasanga, religious discourse, Diham competition and a grand cultural programme.

On the concluding day, the open session-cum-prize distribution and felicitation ceremony was held under the chairmanship of Rosheswar Bora, president, celebration committee. Hiranya Hazarika, Principal, BVFC HS School iugurated the open session. Partha Bijoy Dutta, DSP, mrup and Kamala Gogoi, noted follower of Vaishvite religion, graced the occasion as the special guest and appointed speaker respectively. The other programmes of the day included usha kirtan, puwar prasanga, plantation drive by Golden Jubilee Celebration Committee and am prasanga.

The three-day long celebration ended with the staging of a bhao titled Hori Horor Yuddha: Ban Rojar Patan  by the cultural group of Saragari Bormghar.
