56th convention of BSS gets underway

DHEMAJI, Feb 4: The 56th convention of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS) started from Saturday at the SB Bodo ME and High School play ground in Simen Chapori.


The 56th Bodo Sahitya Sabha convention will continue for four days. Hundreds of volunteers received delegates from Aruchal  Pradesh, Meghalaya, Tripura, Mizoram, galand, West Bengal, Delhi, Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh.

A delegation of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha had met the State Education Minister and he assured to take all possible measures for the development of the Bodo language under Gauhati University and Dibrugarh University. He also declared that fincial assistance would be enhanced for the development of Bodo language and smooth functioning of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha.

The reception committee president Dr Ranuj Pegu said the venue of the convention had already been declared as plastic-free  zone and he appealed to the people of the district in particular and the State in general to extend their cooperation for the success of the session.
