57 cases of traffic violation detected in Shillong

SHILLONG, Aug 2: Due to increase cases of drunk driving in the city especially on Saturdays the State Police conducted a surprise checking last weekend and detected 57 cases of drunkard driving and violation of no entry were detected. A fine of Rs 29400 was realized and none FIR cases were taken up against drunken driving. Today morning around 5am a local taxi ML 05 F 0284 driven by Bhim Bahadur Sur went through the no entry from Civil Hospital to Barik and hit a private no bearing registration number ML 05 K 7087 resulting in the injury of two occupants of the no who were immediately shifted to Civil Hospital. According to Police they have arrested the driver and apart from a case under Motor Vehicles Act, crimil case under IPC will also be taken up against him .He will be forwarded to Court tomorrow. Henceforth, police will start taking crimil cases against such blatant violation which can lead to loss of precious human life.
