5th death anniversary of Promode Gogoi on April 6

SIVASAGAR, April 4: The fifth death anniversary of veteran Communist Party of India (CPI) leader PromodeGogoi, will be observed on April 6 at YuvaDol in Sivasagar. PromodeGogoi was born on September 29 in 1930 and got involved with politics by joining CPI in 1948 and was elected to the Assam Assembly in 1967 from Sivsagar Legislative Constituency for the first time. He was elected to the assembly for five times in his political life. Gogoi was also the Minister of Flood Control and Irrigation Department in the AGP-led coalition government in 1996-2001. The veteran CPI leader died on April 6, 2012 at the age of 82. As part of the programme, tribute will be paid to PromodeGogoi followed by a semir.
