60-year old dies in accident

PATHSALA, Dec 25: A 60-year old man died after he was hit by a coal-loaded heavy truck bearing registration no.WB-39 B-2705 at Patacharkuchi NH-31 on Monday morning. Nur Mahammad, a sexagerian and a resident of Barbhetha under Barama police station of Baksa district, along with his grandson and granddaughter, was proceeding towards a relative’s house in a Hero Honda Splendor bike bearing reg. no-AS-15 D-9478. 

The truck, which was coming from Tinsukia to Gorakhpur, reportedly hit the bike from behind and ran over the old man but the boy aged 9 years and a girl aged 7 years sustained minor injury in the accident. The body of the victim was sent for post-mortem to Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital, Barpeta.
