60-year-old killed in rhino attack at Kaziranga National Park

KAZIRANGA: A 60-year-old man died in a rhino attack in Kaziranga National Park. The deceased has been identified as Dhunda Bhumij. The incident took place at Hathikhuli TE line no.4 when he went for toilet at about 6 am. According to local people, the rhino strayed out of Kaziranga National Park and was roaming in the TE for food and created panic among the locals.

Villagers of Hathikhuli area said that due to lack of toilets in the TE garden village, the old man stepped out of his house this morning and the beast attacked him. ATTSA members and local people took the dead body to National Highway 37 and blocked the road for about 3 hours demanding proper compensation. Later on, after the arrival of DFO Bokakhat and Magistrate, the villagers submitted a memorandum and unblocked the road.
